This Father’s Day, I thank Dad for…

My smile, which helped me make friends from the very first day he left me at the school gates.

Showing me how to serve others as a teacher, mentor and coach, and not wait for a reward.

Teaching me the joy of play, which I now share with my own children.

My resilience, that made me get myself up after every curveball life threw at me.

My sense of purpose, which was not always clear.

Raising me to be a strong woman and to speak my mind, respectfully but firmly.

Helping me to be true to myself, and to let go of what no longer serves me.

My self- belief, which I lost when I experienced trauma and heartache but used all of the above to build it.

I’ve learnt that sometimes it takes a lifetime to assimilate these truths and have written my memoir, Kindness, Kale & Kettlebells: A journey to self-awareness. Join me on my journey as I battle darkness and stay true to the lessons I learnt from Dad.

Kindness, Kale & Kettlebells is now available on Amazon.

To Dad – and all fathers that give that priceless gift, of nurturing their children’s self-belief – Happy Father’s Day!
